Whew! What a Week!  Now it’s time for fun in Columbus, GA!

Don't know about you, but this week started off uneventful enough.  That is, until I read story after story after story about how the world is about to run out of.......wait for it........CHOCOLATE!  What kind of sick joke is that to play on someone first thing on a Monday morning?  I kept waiting for the punchline thinking this has to be the set-up to a funny story.  Not so funny.  I couldn't even read the entire piece because just the thought of a world without chocolate is too much to bear, so let's just pretend at the end of the article they've figured out a way to save the day...and the cocoa bean.  So to make myself feel better, I've been nibbling on Twix and Snickers all week and also planning out a fun weekend.  Getting out and having fun with family and friends is a sure cure for anything.  And it looks like there is more than enough going on this weekend to keep us busy and entertained.  There's a good variety of stuff so no matter what sort of fun you're in need of, chances are you'll find it.

I've heard tons of great things about the production at the Springer Opera House called "Della's Diner."  A friend of mine told me he went not really knowing what to expect, but he said it was one of the best things he's ever seen at the Springer!  That's pretty high praise indeed.  Speaking of the Springer, they are also having a Holiday Open House on Saturday and it looks like not only will Mary Poppins will be there, but also Mrs. Claus!  And since you'll be in Uptown, check out the Transportation Playground at PTAP's new location on Veterans Parkway.  Kids will really love this one because they'll have a train, exotic cars, military vehicles, motorcycles...even a horse and buggy.  Also Saturday morning, you can take part in, or just go watch, the first-ever Chattahoochee Challenge River Adventure...lots of biking, paddling, trekking and more with this one!  Or you can get back to nature and head to Oxbow Meadows for their Birds of Prey Flighted program or check out the Columbus Botanical Garden for their Naturally Christmas Wreath Making class.

I'll be looking for you out and about this weekend...and I'll be the one with a big chocolate bar in my hand!
