We Love Weekends in Columbus, GA!
And this weekend is no exception! Take a quick look at just a few of the things going on…there's bound to be something here that tickles your fancy.
Maybe kick off the weekend with a good old-fashioned hay ride at the campground at FDR State Park. They'll be doing rides Friday and Saturday nights (Nov 11 & 12) beginning at 7:00pm. I can't think of a better way to get in the festive Fall spirit!
Put on your running shoes and get ready for the Soldier Marathon and Half Marathon that will crank up this Saturday at the National Infantry Museum, wind through Ft. Benning and end on the RiverWalk in Uptown Columbus. The race begins at 7:00am, so bundle up and join in or cheer on the runners!
How about a little musical theatre this weekend? The Springer Opera House has a production taking place called "Honky Tonk Angels." Follow the adventures of three talented and sassy young women in this hit country musical as they pursue their Music City dreams in Nashville! Looks like you'll be hearing some incredible music in this one…"Stand by Your Man," Coal Miner's Daughter," "9-to-5," and "These Boots are Made for Walking." That should get your toes tapping! If your weekend has already filled up, you can also catch it next weekend…go ahead and put it on your calendar!
If you're in an artsy mood this weekend, take the family to the Columbus Museum for their Family Art Festival this Sunday beginning at 2:00pm. Drop by the studio and learn how to make a dreamscape window…and it's absolutely free!
'Tis the season to plant trees! Find out more at the Second Sunday program at Oxbow Meadows called "Right Tree, Right Spot." Experts from Trees Columbus, Inc will show you what to consider before planting a tree and give you all the scoop and answers you'll need for a healthy tree. And how cool is this? Everyone who attends will receive a free seedling! Admission is only $3.
And there's no better way to wind down the weekend than with the monthly Jazz Jam at the Liberty Theatre. The Jazz Concert and Jam Session will kick off at 6:00pm this Sunday evening.
It's going to be a beautiful weekend, so get out and enjoy! Make sure you take a look at the Community Calendar for lots more ideas on things to see and do.
Now, go have some fun…
