Lots of Holiday Fun to Be Had In Columbus, GA!
As you make your Christmas and New Year’s holiday vacation plans, make sure to check out the Columbus Calendar! Upcoming events, shows, holiday activities, shopping, dining, and so much more is happening over the next few weeks - all with holiday themes and holiday fun! Whether you are doing some final Christmas shopping (or just getting started), wanting a Christmas getaway, or are looking for a day or two of fun, rest, fine dining, and exploring in the days after Christmas, you have lots of options in Columbus.
What about a presentation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol? On December 22 at 7:30pm, the River Center for the Performing Arts right in Uptown Columbus gives you an opportunity to explore the ghosts of Christmas past and future as old Ebenezer Scrooge learns what it means to be transformed by the holiday season. This classic tale will come to life for you and your family in a way that will make this season one to remember! This particular production of A Christmas Carol will be presented by the Nebraska Theater Caravan.
The Nebraska Theatre Caravan, the professional touring wing of the Omaha Community Playhouse, has been touring Charles Jones’ delightful adaptation of A Christmas Carol since 1979. The Caravan’s Carol, which weaves traditional Christmas carols throughout the narrative, is probably the most widely produced production of Dickens’ in the nation, annually performing for more than 100,000 people in more than 60 cities across the country.
Or, after the Christmas rush when all of the wrapping paper is put away and the last guests leave, make plans to come to Columbus for a getaway. Stay in one of our great hotels, eat some of the best food in the South, and take a couple of days to unwind! More on those options later … but for now, when you plan to go out over the holiday season, going all out in Columbus is sure to please and make it a truly merry Christmas!
