Just what we need to recuperate from the holidays.  A three-day weekend!

Let's face it.  We're all still dragging a bit from all of the excitement and hustle and bustle of the holidays.  And something tells me that I may not be the only one in my neighborhood that still needs to finish taking down all of the Christmas decorations...but we'll save that topic for another day.  So it comes at a great time that for most of us, we've got a three-day weekend to look forward to.  Should be the perfect time to watch a little football, take a nap or three or maybe actually get out and enjoy some of this sunshine that Mother Nature has graced us with for the next few days.  You've got a lot of things to choose from if you're looking for something fun to get into.  For some indoor entertainment, take your pick from a production at Riverside Theatre Complex called The Tallest Tale Ever Told, The Marriage of Figaro at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts or the 3D D-Day movie showing at the IMAX Theater at the National Infantry Museum.

If your lung could do with a little fresh air, there's plenty of outside stuff like the Junior Ranger Day Camp at Florence Marina State Park on Saturday from 10:00am-3:00pm...just make sure you preregister for this one.  If you don't let a little thing like heights bother you, you really should head to Oxbow Meadows and take a hike in the Tree Top Canopy.  It's 35 feet off the ground but you get a really cool view of the wetlands, the river trees, and even some wildlife.  And if I can do it...and 7 year olds can do it...anyone can!

And since lots of folks will be off Monday, how about something a little different to do that day?  Head up to F.D. Roosevelt State Park in Pine Mountain for a Winter Wilderness Trail Ride.  You'll get saddled up on horseback and take a one-hour trail ride with a guide and naturalist and you'll get to see the park from a whole new perspective and get a bit of a history lesson on the way.  You might even want to take a picnic lunch with since the ride will be over around noon.

Enjoy the weekend!
