It’s Halloween! Bring on the Candy Corn…and Trick or Treating in Columbus, GA!

Personally, I think we should go trick-or-treating the entire week leading up to October 31.  I mean, just think of all of the fun-sized Snickers and tiny bags of M & M's.   But since that's not happening, let's just concentrate on Halloween night!  It's kind of a sad thought, but things have changed since I was a kid when parents would set us loose to terrorize the neighborhood on our own and the only thing we had to worry about was which candy to eat first when you got home...and hiding your stash from your big brother.  Most folks now look for a trick-or-treat zone that's a little more concentrated and secure...but still a lot of fun.  Thankfully, they've got all the covered with the 13th Annual Spooktacular Halloween Festival this Friday from 6:00-8:00pm.  All the fun will be held in the green space at Woodruff Park (1000 Bay Ave) and it will be a night of ghosts and goblins, spooky activities, candy, a huge costume contest and lots more fun.  And did I mention it's all FREE!?  Your kids will love it and even if you don't have little ones, go just to see the entries in the costume contest...it's worth going just to see all the creativity!

And after the kids have had their fun, get a group of your friends together and....Let's Do The Time Warp Again!!!  Halloween is the perfect night for a showing of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show' at the McClure Theatre at the Springer Opera House.  You can even go dressed as your favorite character and they'll have all the props you need to make this a real interactive experience!  There will be a show at 7:30pm and then for us die-hard fans, there's the traditional midnight show, too.  (Just remember, this one is rated R so no one under 17 is admitted without an adult present.)

Looks like this Friday is going to be a fun night for all of us...Happy Halloween!
