Winner of both the Grammy Award and the Tony Award, Beautiful tells the glorious story of the incomparable Carole King’s rise as one of the greatest names in popular music. Carole King wrote hits for Aretha Franklin, The Drifters, James Taylor, the Shirelles, Barbra Streisand, the Beatles, Little Eva, and hundreds of other stars. Beautiful features a song list that includes such timeless hits as “I Feel the Earth Move,” "So Far Away," "Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” "You've Got a Friend," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and many more. GODSPELL opens April 19th and runs through May 4th. Based on the Gospel according to Matthew, by composer Stephen Schwartz who also wrote Wicked. This Broadway hit features a comedic troupe of eccentric players who team up with Jesus to teach his lessons in a new age through parables, games, and tomfoolery. An eclectic blend of songs with hits like "Light of the World" and "All For the Best," ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage.
An adventurous sea turtle, Tuttle, loves to explore the vast ocean around her. As she plays with her friends, fishermen throw trash into the ocean. Tuttle and her friends seek help from an octopus Doctor whose legendary skills are almost as good as her jokes. Will Tuttle remember what to do when something goes wrong? How will she teach those fishermen to recycle? This adventure teaches children all about the importance of keeping our waterways clean.
The public is invited to a free weekend celebrating the reimagined Columbus Museum and the area’s vibrant cultural scene. The weekend kicks off at 10 A.M. on Saturday, May 4 with a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by two days of nonstop fun and interactive programming and activities for visitors. Highlights include artistic docent-led tours, a mystery scavenger hunt, collaborative art making, children’s story time, food trucks, giveaways, and a Saturday night silent disco. Enjoy performances by local artists from the Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts, Springer Theater Academy, Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus, Voices of the Valley, Columbus State University Schwob School of Music, and many more.
Playing for Good is teaming up with Paws Humane Society and The Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus (YOGC) to present two incredible benefit concerts on May 18, 2024. “The King is Back” features the renowned Elvis Presley 2021 Ultimate Tribute Artist, Patrick Dunn, gracing The Springer Opera House stage for an el ectrifying night of rock & roll. Get ready for a sensational experience as Patrick Dunn delivers unforgettable performances of Elvis’ greatest hits, accompanied by stunning orchestral arrangements. Mark your calendars for this spectacular event that promises to delight music lovers while supporting two noble causes!
The Chattahoochee Valley Daylily Festival will be held on Saturday, June 1st. The event is presented by The Chattahoochee Valley Daylily Society, Columbus Botanical Garden & UGA Extension and is a day full of celebrating the wonder of daylilies! The event includes a daylily show at 1:30, as well as a daylily class. Visitors can shop the garden, peruse art and craft vendors, and get lunch from local food trucks. Lawn games will also be out for kids to enjoy.
