Easter Bunny Weekend Fun in Columbus, GA!
It's a big holiday weekend with lots of family get-togethers and thankfully, there's plenty of fun stuff to do this weekend to entertain everyone in the household! We've compiled a short list with just a few of the hightlights happening, but to get the complete list, check out the Community Calendar...this thing is chocked full of good information.
Calling all tree huggers! This event has your name written all over it. The Art of Yoga Studio is planning a “Flash Mob Yoga” event in honor of Earth Day on Friday, April 22. The plan is to meet at the Art of Yoga Studio, located in MidTown Columbus at 1315 Delauney Ave. Participants will then walk to Lakebottom Park. All you need to bring is your yoga mat or a towel. The yoga session is free, but donations will be accepted in support of Trees Columbus. After all that hard work, the group will head to Loco’s Grill on 13th Street for refreshments and camaraderie. What a great and relaxing way to spend a Friday night!
It is Easter Weekend, so I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about at least one Easter Egg Hunt and Celebration. Florence Marina State Park is hosting one this Saturday, April 23 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. The kind staff at the park will be hiding individually wrapped candy eggs in the northern field, as well as some really cool prize eggs. I tried so hard to be the one that found that golden egg on Easter morning…remember the one, wrapped in aluminum foil and spray painted gold?! To be fair, there will be three age groups in the hunt, ranging from 1 year-olds to 10 year-olds. There’s no cost to participate in the hunt, just a $5 parking pass. (229) 838.4706
Don’t forget "The Lady with All the Answers" continues to play at the Springer Opera House this weekend through April 30. It stars Judy Leavell as Ann Landers. You’ll learn the proper way to hang toilet paper, all about sibling rivalry and more! (706.327.3688)
Callaway Gardens is having their big Easter Eggstravaganza this weekend. On Saturday they will have a mega-hunt of candy and prize eggs by the Overlook Azalea Garden. Hunts will occur by age group from 2 to 5 PM and kids can have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny from noon to 5 PM. The egg hunts are free with your paid gardens admission. On Sunday, you can make plans to attend the non-denominational Easter Sunrise Service lakeside, adjacent to the Gardens Restaurant. It’s full weekend of all things Easter and a great way to celebrate this holiday with family and friends. (800.CALLAWAY)
When something has been going on for 9 years, you know it’s a good thing. The Rivercities Model A Ford Club is having their 9th Annual Car Show this Saturday in the parking lot of the National Civil War Naval Museum (Victory Dr.). If you have a car you want to be in the show and be judged, registration is between 9:00 AM and noon and costs $15. If you want to just go and see the cool cars, it’s free. There will be yummy food and drinks available for purchase on-site. The car judging will begin at noon and two awards will be given in each class. From what I’ve heard this show is a pretty big deal and they usually have lots of entries. The weather should be great this weekend so I’m sure this year will be no exception. (334.291.1472)
The free Friday night movies continue this weekend at Wetherby Field (Ft. Benning) with a showing of "The A-Team." Bring chairs, blankets, coolers and pets, but they’ll supply the free popcorn. Movie starts at 8:30 PM. (706.545.3328)
Good stuff this weekend and I hope you and your family are able to get together and enjoy!
Now, go have some fun…
